Mobile browsing becoming mainstream | CNET News.com
Pretty interesting, since my own research found that older mobile users (those on the Chapel Hill campus anyway) state that security is their primary reason for cell phone ownership. Will we begin to see a shift away from that as web browsing on the phone becomes more common?

Interesting. Not likely to pose any serious challenge to the iPod (because of size and the subscription factor), but its wireless capabilities raise privacy issues that need examined. This is especially important considering that it uses 802.11b wi-fi.
No technical details (that I can determine yet, anyway) on how the privacy settings actually work.

Paypal finally makes it official and announces their new pay-by-mobile phone system.
It’s going to be interesting to see if it catches on as well as a similar service in Korea.
In-Stat market research suggests that 25 million U.S. consumers could be using their mobile phones as “wallets” by 2011.

On Second Thought: New Deadline For E911 Service May Be Never
From Techdirt, news that the E911 deadline may be put off indefinitely. I have to add that not all areas of the United States have basic 911 service yet.
