How many times can I say that this is a good idea? The security of my internet connections has been at the center of my attention for years, and it’s why I have a hard time trusting mobile internet access. With my N800 it’s possible to set up an encrypted ssh tunnel and proxy the web browser through that, but it’s very tricky. I have no idea if such capabilities exist for the ipod touch.

TV Audience Behavior During Commercial Breaks in Television Programs.

Check out this graph of television viewers during commercial breaks:

It looks like countdown begins at T-3 minutes (180 seconds), and ends with a 30 second Google ad. Are commercial breaks really 3 1/2 minutes long now? Geez, I’m glad I don’t watch much TV.

Blackberry duplicate calendar entries? Got Facebook 1.5 on your device?

The Facebook 1.5 app created a problem of duplicate calendar entries on my Blackberry. I thought deleting the application would fix it (I don’t really use Facebook much anyway), and at first it seemed like it did. But then more duplicate entries appeared. When I examined them in detail, they would show up as Facebook calendar entries. The link in the title shows what worked for me, post Facebook deletion:

If you want to totally delete the Facebook calendar then go into Options -> Advanced -> Service Books and delete Facebook [ICAL]

It may be a while before it completely disappears, but I believe the marketplace has spoken. Not only is there no firewire port on the new unibody macbooks, it appears that they can’t even be booted in target disk mode. Working in an all-Mac lab, with all-firewire video recording and editing devices, this change has affected one student needing to finish a project today, and I know I will see more of this as time goes on.
