$750,000 fine for Dobson Communications for not rolling E911 out quickly enough. Fines like this would appear to pose a greater financial risk to smaller cellular carriers. I have to disagree somewhat with the author, Bryan White, that E911 “does not contribute directly to revenue”. LBS services that piggyback on E911 technologies stand to rake in billions of dollars (with the caveat that they have to be implemented correctly).
Update: apparently, Dobson “willfully and repeatedly” ignored the FCC.
